I Live For Garbage Day on The Upper East Side
While walking home from work, I found this cool record cabinet outside the side entrance of a Park Avenue building. It was sitting all by itself, no garbage had been put out yet. So I hailed a cab and threw it in the trunk. Getting it up to my apartment was another story. I might be bruised in the morning. But I put some records inside, a Jonathan Adler tray with some rocks and coasters by Jairus...

Richard Saja's Recontextualized Toile de Jouy
Artist Richard Saja updates classic French Toile for Keds for Opening Ceremony: Anyone familiar with “Toile de Jouy” — a print that originated in 1700s France — would most likely associate it with the sweet, girly Marie Antoinette-style decor of grandma’s dining room, but Richard’s reinterpretations subvert the expected daintiness by inserting figures reminiscent of the artist’s...

BIG BAD MAMA
Seen while antiquing/yard sailing/junk shopping in Upstate, NY this weekend: I wanted to buy it for my own big bad mama, but it was a bit too dear for my pocketbook (it’s huge and already framed). So I took these pictures instead.

RUBBiSH
RUBBiSH Recycled Rubber Sink Made From Tires Creating art out of rubbish is something industrial designers have seem to mastered. “Recycle”, Reclaim, Reuse” is no longer a theoretical ideation as the A&D in recent times has been flooded with creations that reemphasize the “design with a conscious” mantra. Check out the aptly named RUBBiSH Recycled...

Interiors of Lundby dollhouses from the 1960s. I’m thinking about copying the look of these floor-to-ceiling staircase posts. [source]

Vintage Dollhouse Fireplace & Radiogram
Despite the sucky dollar/pound exchange rate, I bought these circa 1960s dollhouse pieces on Ebay UK. I wanted them for the mini Painted Lady. They’re 1:16 scale. I don’t even know what scale the house is yet, because I haven’t seen it in person, but as I’ve got a problem, I couldn’t resist bidding anyway. Why are miniatures from England (and Germany, and France) so...

New ideas for stairs
I’m really tempted to attempt one of these staircases in the dollhouse. Particularly the first example. I’d just need some very strong glue. Samalot Stairs by Jordi Vayreda Ribbon Stairs by HŠH architects (via Nicole Nadeau)
