Almost completed my first week back at school!
And I am loving every minute. I took the summer off from school since I started working full time again in the Spring. Last summer I took three studio classes (Basic Drafting, Faux Finishes and Color Theory [which involved A LOT of paint mixing]). This summer, I really missed it. So I am very happy to be back.
This semester I am doing 12 credits: Intensive French, Basic Math, Modern Architecture & Design (but not capital-M Modern as in glass houses and steel beams - just modern as in, like not ancient, y’know, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, etc. The course begins with the late 18th century and goes all the way up to the present day), Design Theory, and The Golden Mean. So far I have had three of five classes, and I am truly geeking the hell out on each one (except math). Feel free to follow my twitter for up to the minute geeking out. Note: The Golden Mean course is a weekend long seminar, (end of October) and I will probably be live-tweeting it (get ready for #goldenmean). It’s going to be fascinating as all get out - the Golden Mean “stands alone among mathematical expressions of proportion” and appears in nature, design and architecture from Egyptian pyramids, the Parthenon and Le Corbusier, to sunflowers and spiral seashells.
Oh right and I am also working full time. Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. So, good luck making plans with me for the next several months or so! All my classes are on nights and weekends, except for math, which I get to leave work for in the middle of the day. That’s the only bummer class, but it’s a requirement so I have to suck it up. It’s basically just 9th & 10th grade math, but you are looking at someone who has an 8th grade math education because she skipped math class all throughout high school. I still don’t know how I managed to even get a high school diploma sometimes.
So this is my school update. There hasn’t been much school-related content on the blog in a while, so prepare for more. I promise it won’t be boring. There is no way anything I post on this subject will be boring, because I am just way too fucking excited about it. Also: In case you didn’t know, enthusiasm is contagious, so, you’re welcome in advance.
The only caveat? This means less dollhouse blog content. BIG sad face. I just don’t know when I am going to find the time I need to dedicate to it, so large dollhouse projects will be put on hold. Smaller dollhouse projects will definitely continue though. But most of my free time is going to be blocked out for school till further notice. THIS is why I need to incorporate the dollhouse project into school. Did I mention on here that my academic advisor said that I might be able to work it into my thesis? Because she said that. And I would very much like to make that happen. Now… if I could only get someone to pay me for it… know any very wealthy little girls who want historically styled dollhouses?
