While doing research on office buildings for a term paper (more on this later) I came across this chart, which reminded me - this week is Elevator Week on one of my favorite blogs, Fauxology! Go check out the great coverage of some of the most beautiful elevators you’ve ever seen.
Fun fact: This chart also reminded me of an experience I had as a teenager, when my family moved from Manhattan to Upstate, NY. On the first day of school, my social studies teacher asked the class if any of us had ever been in an elevator. Growing up living in apartment buildings, I had been in an elevator at least twice a day from the day I was born. When I looked around and saw that maybe only one or two other kids raised their hands, this harsh wave of culture shock rushed over me and I knew that I’d officially entered what I soon came to not-so-affectionately refer to as “the land of the Morlocks”.
